Big Names in the Denim World (updated)

There is very little information available, especially in English, on the people who have played key roles in the denim revival. Here are some of the big names...

Hidehiko Yamane (山根英彦)

Born 1959. Started Evis in 1988, and founded Evisu in 1991.

Yoshiyuki Hayashi (林芳淳)

Born 1956. Launched the Denime brand in 1988.

Hitoshi Tsujimoto (辻本仁史)

Born 1960. President of Real McCoys. (I don't have a full understanding of his background)

Shigeharu Tagaki
Designed jeans for the Studio D'Artisan brand in 1982 .

Mikiharu Tsujita (辻田幹晴)
Established the Fullcount brand in 1992.

Toshikiyo Hirata (平田俊清)

Established the Kapital brand in 1995.

Jean Touitou

Started A.P.C. (Atelier Production Creation) in 1987. (thanks Patrick)

Maria Erixon

Founder of Nudie Jeans in 1999. Designed the Regular Ralf.

Rogan Gregory

Played a key role in starting the current Premium Denim trend. Started the brands Rogan 2001, Loomstate 2004, Edun 2005.
