Vito Corleone Wardrobe

The Godfather II has some great period clothing.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071562/
Robert De Niro as Vito Corleone sports some nice caps, braces, long johns, shirts with a variety of collars (big, rounded, and no collar).

You should dress like this when you are starting your own underground organised criminal society.
Check out the Godfather series if you haven't seen it before. It's on blu-ray if you have the hardware.

On a side note: I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which has some interesting wardrobe viewing.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421715/
"Filmmakers worked closely with Levi's to obtain clothing items from their Levi's Vintage Clothing collection to authenticate various time periods captured throughout the film."

If you're time-poor, then I'd recommend watching the Godfather rather than Benjamin Button.

Gift suggestion: Band of Brothers Blu-Ray

Sorry for the break in postings. I've been busy moving house.
Here's something I recommend you get.

I've had this Band of Brothers blu-ray box set for a few weeks now, and I'm half-way through. If you've seen the series before, you know how good it is, but the added extras in the blu-ray version are quite amazing.

You can watch each episode in an interactive timeline mode which includes maps and other information.

Or you can watch it in "In the words of Easy Company" mode, where the original vets pop-up in picture-in-picture windows, and they explain quite a lot about what you are watching.

The picture-in-picture mode is incredible. It continually reminds you that what you are watching really happened.

Here's a ref link to buy it on Amazon

Tokyo Eye Denim Special

I found this video via the superfuture forums. It has a nice long segment on Japanese denim presented by Gordon Heffner from BIG in New York. It looks like he goes to Hinoya in Ueno. And I believe there is some background to the story of Gordon hurting his hand. I think he did this when chainstitching a lot of denim.

Hey Gordon... I got the Duck Diggers. Thanks for the delivery!

Blue Jean Confidential CBC Documentary

If you haven't seen this documentary you can watch it online here:

It's quite good. It includes interviews with Adriano Goldschmied, Lynn Downey and James Sullivan.

And the makers even travelled to Kojima japan to check out the Rampuya and interview some hardcore collectors.
