Distressed Cordovan

Augusta have some very interesting cordovan shoes and boots. I was going to call it "raw" because I don't think it is tanned, but the cordovan is treated/distressed which would make it the opposite of raw for denim.

I wonder if all this splotchy coloured (tortoise) cordovan might be the rejects from Alden etc. because it does not make the grade for their cigar shell?
