Levis 1880 Nevada Raw

Levis are running a reproduction of the oldest known jeans, the Nevada. Older jeans were lost in the San Francisco Earthquake fires. These originals were found down a mineshaft in the Nevada desert. Hence the name.

These replicas are on sale in Japan in a limited (150) box set (60,000 JPY) with some awesome leather suspenders. They've sold out of my size.

They are also on ebay for $1,000 USD, which is a considerable mark-up.

If you can do without the box and the leather suspenders, you can get them from Cultizm for $209 USD.

I wonder if the Cultizm ones are exactly the same as the box set ones? I know that they're the best value of the three... but I really want those suspenders.

Tokyo Eye Denim Special

I found this video via the superfuture forums. It has a nice long segment on Japanese denim presented by Gordon Heffner from BIG in New York. It looks like he goes to Hinoya in Ueno. And I believe there is some background to the story of Gordon hurting his hand. I think he did this when chainstitching a lot of denim.

Hey Gordon... I got the Duck Diggers. Thanks for the delivery!
